Brown

The Honourable Richard Brown was appointed by Premier Robert Ghiz as Minister of Environment, Energy and Forestry on January 13, 2009.

He previously served as Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning from April 3, 2008. He was appointed as Minister of Development and Technology June 12, 2007.

Minister Brown was first elected to the Prince Edward Island Legislative Assembly in a by-election in the riding of Charlottetown-Victoria Park in November, 1997. He was subsequently elected in September, 2003 and again in May, 2007.  

Minister Brown has served as Opposition Critic for the Provincial Treasury, Development and Technology, Labour, Energy and the Environment. He has also sat on a number of Legislative Committees, including the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and the Environment, the Standing Committee on Community Affairs and Economic Development and the Standing Committee on Privileges, Rules and Private Bills.

Minister Brown completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Prince Edward Island, and also has a Public Administration Certificate from the same institution. Along with his responsibilities as an elected official, he has worked for several years in the Information Technology sector.

He and his wife Kathy live on Fitzroy Street in Charlottetown with their two children, Leslie and Richard.
